  1. Jessica Schauf says:

Back to the Future (3) is my favorite movie filmed in San Juan County. I loved the series so much I named my kid Emmett after Doc. Brown.

  2. Chef Schauf says:

This is a tough one. First off, who would name their kid after a movie anyways, really? That’s creative. If Emmett Otter’s Jub Band Christmas was filmed in San Juan County I would pick that one. Best movie ever. I’m gonna rule out Back to the Future III, just cause. So, I’m left with Forrest Gump or Wiley Coyote and Road Runner….hmmmm? After a movie….that’s silly….next we’ll be calling babies Puss N Boots. I’m going with Forrest Gump.

  3. Sandy says:

It has to be Thelma and Louise! I didn’t realize the famous jump off the cliff was filmed in San JuanCcounty. I always associated Dead Horse Point with Moab…until now! =)

  4. Clarence says:

National Lampoon’s Vacation without a doubt! I miss those Griswold vacations.

  5. Raymond Takiue says:

As a youngster, I watched John Wayne in the Searchers and I really enjoyed the background a lot. Fort Apache, another favorite and little did I know that these were filmed in a real area till I visited Utah. Now, I am more intrigued with the background and I really enjoy reruns and Netflix.

  6. Alene Nielsen says:

My favorite move that was filmed in San Juan County is “Forest Gump”. I didn’t realize some of it was filmed in Utah.

  7. Mary says:

My all-time favorite has to be Forest Gump, and recently I visited the area where it was filmed!

  8. Jared Hillhouse says:

Has to be Forrest Gump!!! Lots of inspiration when he was running through Monument Valley and I was really excited when I moved to the area and found the Highway and could visualize him running there. I still like to drive down that road and picture it when I am passing through there.

  9. Kristen Thayn says:

I can not drive the stretch of hwy 191 without quoting Forrest Gump. Great flick.

  10. Lynne Shumway says:

My favorite is a John Wayne film, “She Wore A Yellow Ribbon ” . My father in law was the pony express rider and his son, my husband, now works as a postal carrier. My how their mode of transportation has changed. Good flick! Check it out!!!

  11. Dallas Peterson says:

    Thelma and Louise! Great movie

  12. Jessica McFarland says:

I love Forrest Gump!!! It has to be my favorite, but there are a lot of good ones that were filmed around here!

  13. Glen Hampton says:

‘How the West Was Won’ is what I say, it’s more than just a few scenes in San Juan county.

  14. Vickie Rectenwald says:

My favorite movie filmed in this area is Thelma and Louise, although Back To the Future III is a very close second. A beautiful area I hope to spend more time in someday!
